Meet The Skirt Slayer

My name Turkessa Fuller, known to family and friends as Kesha. 

In July of 2017, my husband bought my first sewing machine for our anniversary. I was livid!!! I wanted to know who was responsible for this "gift"! I did not even know how to thread a sewing machine. Little did I know then that God was responsible. God knew that 6 months later, I would tragically lose my daughter and that gift has literally SAVED MY LIFE!

When I am sewing and creating, I am in a place of peace. I love taking fabric and making something beautiful. To this day, I am simply amazed after each creation. I truly love what I have been blessed to do. Talk about finding a purpose from your pain...

 

From The Concrete Grows a Black Rose

I would always tell her that she was my best piece of work, my greatest accomplishment. God's Most Beautiful Creation.

@blaqroz is my daughter's social media name and it just makes sense.

Where We Started

The 2nd Sunday of February 2018, I made this simple black & white polka dot skirt to wear to church. It was the Sunday I returned to church after the tragic loss of my daughter one month prior.

When I tell you that SEWING SAVED MY LIFE... I mean that LITERALLY!

I made this skirt because I always felt like when you look good, you feel good and it's just something about polka dots.

When I got home from church that afternoon, I HAD NINE ORDERS!!! At this point, I had only sewn 2 skirts for myself.

I remember on the way home asking out loud, "Is this really happening?"

Hundreds of skirts later, I AM THE SKIRT SLAYER!
